Plant of the week:
Name: Dracaena Reflexa
Care level: Relatively simple. This adaptable houseplant can thrive indoor or in a partially-shady outdoor area, like a patio!
Sunlight: filtered indoor like, for instance through a sheer curtain in front of a sunny window) or a semi-shade spot is ideal. Do not place this plant in direct sunlight, since the rays will damage its foliage.
Water: They require less water than most indoor plants. In order to keep them hydrated, you should mist their leaves with water and keep its soil lightly misted, never soggy as well as good drainage. Make sure you allow the top soul to dry out before watering again. Also, do not over water since it could cause the root to rot.
If you notice the leaves yellowing or drooping, it could be that you over watered your plant, or there is poor drainage. Do not be alarmed! If you you notice the bottom leaves beginning to turn yellow and fall, its normal for these plants to shed leaves in order to grow new ones.
Remember! These plants are sensitive to fluoride, which is found in tap water. Therefore, its important to use purified water when caring for this plant. If you find leaves that have dark brown and dead areas with yellow edges, it may indicate fluoride toxicity.
