Oh SNAP’s Cooking Classes are going virtual this year! 

Since we cannot be on campus like how we used to, we decided to bring the cooking classes to you. Students, staff, and members of the community have volunteered to share some of their favorite recipes with us and walk us through how to make them via Zoom. Our virtual cooking classes will be recorded and posted onto our Youtube account so that you can watch them later!

The special thing is that if you are an HSU student and register for our classes, you will be able to receive the corresponding ingredients to make the dishes for free!

*Registration for the ingredients will temporarily close a couple of days before an upcoming cooking class so that our team could work on gathering and distributing the right amount of ingredient bags. 

 

We have three options for ingredient distributions:

  1. You pick up at the bottom of the J on Friday (11 a.m.-1 p.m.) the week before the class or on Tuesday (12-2 p.m. or 3-5 p.m.) the week of the class 
  • Just like how you’d pick up your usual grocery bag, just let the staff know that you’re there to pick up a Cooking Class bag
  1. Local Deliveries: Oh SNAP! Staff will deliver the Cooking Class recipe bags to you the weekend before the class if you cannot make it to Oh SNAP’s open hours or due to health reasons
  2. Instacart: For those that are not in the local Humboldt area. We can still have the ingredients delivered to you! 

 

Our friend Amanda McDonald, who is the program director for W.R.R.A.P. will host our first Cooking Class on Tuesday, October 20th (5:30-6:30 pm). She will be walking us through how to prepare a delicious (vegetarian) Enchilada Spaghetti Squash Bake!

Last but not least for this month, we will be having a special Halloween Class on Tuesday, October 27th (12-1 p.m.)!! Zoom link:  https://humboldtstate.zoom.us/j/82057472079 

HSU student Alyssa Camacho will teach us how to make Halloween Peanut Butter Blossoms (cookies)! We will be providing the ingredients needed for these cookies so please sign up ASAP!
